Director of Business Development

Job description:

Accountable for all new business activities to identify and close new contract and fee-for-service opportunities, including but not limited to sourcing, marketing, negotiating and contracting with clients. Work with divisional senior management, management, and global BD personnel to assure ongoing customer satisfaction and service. Cooperate with Process Technology Pharma and other Glatt Group Companies as and where needed.  Oversees activities of US-based BD colleagues.
  • Primary accountability is the acquisition of new projects and clients in fee-for-service development and contract manufacturing of GMP products for all US based activities.
  • Directly supervise, coach and develop, BD Department personnel to ensure the highest degree of excellence and transparency in client sourcing and relationships.
  • Lead in the establishment and implementation of Divisional sales, marketing and advertising strategies and goals across the United States.
  • Establish and maintain routine communication with Leadership and Management around Divisional BD activity, revenue, spending, client satisfaction and other reports to track business development and sales activities and progress.
  • Negotiate all contract R&D and analytical work, contract manufacturing, product distribution and confidentiality agreements. 
  • Establish and maintain BD Department budget.
  • Ensure the range of services offered by Glatt Pharmaceutical Services (GPS) is made known and presented to the market in general and to customers and partners specifically. Identify and attend select conferences, symposiums, seminars and trade shows to represent GPS.
  • Actively collaborate with Glatt BD leads in Europe, Glatt Corporate Marketing, Glatt Communication and all other Glatt divisions to ensure a strategic alignment within the organization as it relates to the selling message.
  • Heavily participate in building and maintaining excellent applicable industry relationships through different direct and indirect channels i.e. face to face exchanges and social media applications and forums.
  • Remain current with emerging industry trends and standards to ensure that GPS offerings are strategically aligned and competitive with the industry and clients.
  • Support new businesses in market analysis and the development of future business segments.
  • Contribute to the strengthening among the business units within the Glatt Group.
  • Distribute other products emerging from the Glatt Group in connection with GPS.
  • Travel expected to exceed 50% of business activities.  Presence in office a minimum of 2-days per week unless traveling.

Preferred skills:

Minimum 10 years’ technical experience in pharmaceutical business development or sales. Minimum 7 years’ experience in managing pharmaceutical business development or sales. Direct experience in selling contract services, drug delivery technologies and platforms, or other business-to-business or consultative sales for products that could end in delivery for human healthcare. Must be an aggressive, self-motivated and personable professional with a proven track record, willing to be out of the office, overnight when applicable, selling 75% of the time.
